So much is happening in the classroom!!!

Math - We are well into our fraction unit and are showing great skills in adding and subtracting fractions.  We will soon move onto multiplication and division of fractions.  Study those multiplication and division facts at home!!

Writing - We are currently doing two projects in writing.  We are learning how to write a research paper, including how to tell authenticity of websites, how to cite resources, how to summarize in our own words what we have learned on our subject.  Ask you child what they have decided to study.

2nd - We have become sponsors of the crew aboard the U.S.S. Montpelier.  A Navy submarine named after Montpelier, VT.  We are currently making personal letters to thank each and every member of the crew.  WOW!  Around 170!!!

Science - We are studying physical science at this time.  We have determined that  a sugar cube weighs the same whether dissolved or in solid state.  Next, we will look at the physical properties of a penny.

Social Studies - We continue to learn about the U.S.A. and it's history.

We are also showing what good citizen ship is when we made and delivered quilts for the nursing home and sponsor the crew aboard the U.S.S. Montpelier.

Reading - We finished up our unit on fiction and have moved into non-fiction.  Perfect for our research unit in writing.

italiano - Mrs. Considine has generously agreed to come in and teach our class italiano.  We had our first lesson and already the children are using many of the words in their everyday conversations.

THANK YOU SO MUCH MRS. CONSIDINE!!!!!!

Thursday night Taiko Concert and River of Light

Thursday night, December 17th, is our Taiko Concert and River of Light.

The gym will open at 5:30 so students may arrive in the gym and group with their teacher.  Please make sure all boots, coats, etc. stay with the parents/guardians.  The concert starts at 6:00.

Directly following the concert everyone should stay seated while students are given their lanterns for the River of Light parade.  For children to march in the parade they need to be with a "home" adult.  Teachers are not responsible for students during the parade.

Please see the bright pink information sheet that went home with your child on Tuesday, December 15th.

See you there!
